About the area

Vikingveggen runs up the south face of Festvågtind, the small mountain rising directly behind Bratten Activity Park just east of Bodø centre. The route was bolted in 2017 by local guides and is one of the few via ferratas in Northern Norway designed specifically for first-timers - graded B/C on the international via ferrata scale.

The approach from the car park takes 20 minutes through pine forest. The climb itself is 250 metres of vertical gain over roughly 90 minutes, and the descent follows a marked walking path back down the back of the mountain.

Next step: Sølvskatten

Mastered Vikingveggen? Take the challenge further with Sølvskatten – our advanced route with a dramatic overhang finish.
